College VoxBox Review

Hi everybody,
So I know I said I would write reviews on the press-on nails and nyc glitter pencil I got in my College VoxBox from Influenster.com so here it is....

Not too pleased :( the press on nails have a gorgeous design but my natural nails are longer than the fake ones so I had to cut my nails. They looked nice at first but they didn't last on my nails for very long. They kind of looked like those nails we wore as little kids. I'm not really a fan.

Now the NYC glitter pencil was slightly better but not by much. When I tried putting it on my waterline, it slid off immediately. I then put it on my upper lashline and the glitter was pretty (because it wasn't excessive) but it wasn't very black. It lasted through the day but there was less and less of it on my eyes as the day went on.

This wasn't a very positive post but what are you gonna do. Right now I'm looking forward to two more posts I'm going to do real soon...when what I need comes in the mail. Hope you guys found this a little helpful. Thanks!

Influenster College VoxBox 2012

Hi everybody,
WAHHHH this is exciting!!!! I got my first VoxBox from influenster.com, the College VoxBox 2012! If you guys don't know about Influenster then you should, especially if you are a blogger/vlogger. It's a website where you can look at product reviews (everything from makeup to alcohol) and you can write reviews as well. You receive points for writing reviews, taking surveys, and posting reviews on any of your social media pages or channels. And..... you may get a chance to receive a box of goodies to review! It's completely free by the way.
I was lucky enough to receive the College VoxBox 2012 from the site and I'm so excited. Here are the things I got:
-ImPress Press-On Manicure

-NYC Show Time Glitter Eyeliner Pencil

-Necco Tropical Wafers

-Pentel EnerGel-X Campaign pen

-Energy Sheets

I will definitely review the press on nails and the eyeliner pencil on here (since they are beauty related), but for my other reviews check out influenster.com; my username is katn1101.
(Warning: if you are going to join influenster.com, do it to learn more about products and help other people out....NOT TO JUST GET FREE STUFF)

Revlon Colorsilk Beautiful Color

I have been dying my hair for about two years now. My hair is naturally dirty blonde/light brown and I dye it black. Not dark brown or soft black but BLACK. I have tried almost every black boxed hair dye; everything from Garnier Nutrisse to L'Oreal Feria have been in my hair. After dying my hair, my hair would become a strange brassy color after about 3 weeks! One day, when I was in Rite Aid, I decided to try this hair dye that was on sale for $3 a box. And that hair dye was Revlon Colorsilk!

That was a year ago and I have not used another hair dye since. It has UV defense ingredients in it that keep your hair from fading or becoming brassy. I seriously can go about 2 months without dying my hair...mind you, I only dye it because my hair grows so my roots are coming in. My ends always stay as black as the day I dyed my hair. I love this product! It is the best drugstore hair dye I have ever used and it is probably the most inexpensive one out there. It is so accessible (I have seen it in Target, CVS, etc) and it comes in tons of colors. Plus, it's usually on sale at some drugstore for really cheap....GET IT

Cheaper China Glaze

I love nailpolish! Whenever I walk into a drugstore, even if I'm going in for one thing, I end up looking at the nailpolish. But because I don't like spending more than $4 on nailpolish (I know, I'm cheap) I usually gravitate towards Sinful Colors, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, and anything on major sale. Needless to say I have never owned a China Glaze nailpolish before I turned 22 years old even though I always did. China Glaze can range on average from $8-$9 at Ulta and they have some gorgeous colors in all kinds of finishes. I saw "For Audrey" and wanted it so badly but I REALLY didn't want to pay $8 for a nailpolish.

If you're like me, then this website is going to be your best friend. That website is http://8ty8beauty.com/. This is an incredible site for people who want not only China Glaze polishes but even things like nail accessories, an airbrush system, and even those massage chairs you sit in when you get a professional pedicure!

The China Glaze polishes range from $3-$4 each, depending on the finish and collection. They have so many of their colors and they tell you what kind of finish each polish has (creme, french, glitter, shimmer, or neon). This is especially helpful because I don't like shimmer polishes so this prevented me from accidentally buying one. I ordered 6 polishes and they came very quickly, about 3 days. Shipping was about $7. The only bad thing about this site is that they don't have every color from every collection but they have a good amount. Go to this site, seriously! I'm not getting paid for this, I just love it! Please try it out!

Hellooo

Well...I'm starting a blog. I was debating to to this for awhile but I finally sucked it up. First of all, I am a scientist, a chemist specifically. And I love makeup!! It's seriously an obsession (I have had dreams about it....yeah it's sick). However, I do not own any high end makeup and I probably never will because I'm cheap; but also because you will find a dupe at the drugstore for almost every high end product (or close to it). I'm calling this blog "Beauty and the Scientist" for one reason. I am not a hairstylist, a makeup artist, a fashion designer, or even a cosmetic chemist. I am a standard 23 year old woman who just graduated from college and started getting into makeup and beauty about two years ago. So I am not an expert but I have learned some things, including how to save a buck.

I want this blog to be about beauty and fashion I want to give advice and reviews on products but I want to learn along with all of you. Like I said, I'm not an expert and I have so much to learn but lets learn together. I want you to comment as well and teach me things. I hope you enjoy this blog!
